Volunteer: Veteran Small Business Initiative Program SupportMission United of the CSRA is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Volunteer Program Assistant to support the development and implementation of our inaugural Veteran Small Business Mentor-Protégé Program. This initiative is designed to empower small, veteran, and/or disadvantaged businesses by connecting them with prime contractors and providing access to procurement opportunities across Federal, State, Local, Education (SLED), and Commercial sectors. Role Overview: As a Volunteer Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping us build a strong foundation for this transformative economic development initiative. You will assist with: Administrative Research: Gathering data on procurement opportunities, mentor organizations, and small business needs. Outreach: Communicating with potential mentors, protégés, and community partners. Logistics: Supporting event planning, workshops, and training sessions. Scheduling: Coordinating meetings, interviews, and program activities.Ideal Candidate: Passionate about economic empowerment and small business development. Organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Using a strengths-based, client-centered approach, the navigator will work to connect clients with a network of local resources and provide the compassionate support necessary to help clients achieve their goals. *Veterans/Military family members highly encourage to apply! * Responsibilities: Conduct client assessments to understand needs, strengths, and goals, creating tailored, individualized support plans. Provide referrals to local resources, services, and programs specifically available for veterans, active-duty members, and their families, addressing areas such as housing, employment, healthcare, and education. Maintain regular communication with clients to monitor progress, address any new needs, and provide ongoing support. Collaborate with United Way’s 2-1-1 resource program to stay informed on updated local resources and assist clients in navigating the systems. Encourage, support, and motivate clients using empathy, non-judgment, and understanding to foster trust and engagement. Document interactions, updates, and any additional support provided to ensure continuity of care and service effectiveness.Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to clients' experiences in a respectful and supportive manner.
