Role: Windshield Survey Support
Ideal for: Encore volunteers, residents, community members
What they do:
Ride along or walk designated blocks with a clipboard or mobile form
Observe and note visible conditions only (no entering property)
Flag:
Vacant lots or boarded structures
Visible exterior damage (roof, windows, siding)
Overgrown lots
Abandoned vehicles
Take photos only of public-facing views (if allowed)
Skills needed:
Attention to detail
Ability to walk or sit for short periods
Comfort using a phone or paper checklist
Time commitment: 2–3 hour shifts
Why it matters: Helps the city prioritize which properties need attention first—before enforcement or funding decisions are made.
